Giclée prints achieve the closest possible reproduction of Durand’s pictures, and are remarkable for high-quality image resolution, exceptional richness, and depth of colour. Durand has selected Somerset Enhanced Velvet paper for this edition due to the subtle watercolour grain in the paper, which replicates harmoniously the deep-grain texture of the pictures.

Somerset Enhanced Velvet, manufactured by St. Cuthbert’s Mill, is an acid free paper made from 100% cotton fibers using quality materials to give an archival sheet buffered with calcium carbonate to protect prints against atmospheric pollutants. In conjunction with specialized Epson inks the paper is lightfast. An invisible coating on one side allows a wide colour gamut, and excellent tonal separation throughout the range, an absolute prerequisite to reproduce faithfully, and with subtlety, the myriad colours in Durand’s pictures.
